Text А

Dear friends, on Saturday you will have an opportunity to see an authentic village of the 16th century. It's like an open-air museum, houses of those times, people wearing traditional costumes, and performing folk music and dancing. You'll have the impression you have gone into the past in a time machine. This place is often used for making historical films,

when they shoot the scenes of everyday life in the countryside. The school bus will get us there at 9am and bring us back by 10pm.

Text B

Hi, Mom. I'm going to be late. We're getting ready for our school culinary show, and I'm taking part with your recipe, a cherry pie. Anyway, I have to ask you a favor. My friend, Anna, is going to come today. I've promised her a book about pet birds. She's got a small parrot as a present, but she doesn't even know what to feed it with. So she's desperate to get the book as soon as possible. Could you give it to her, please? It's on the shelf above my table. Love you!

Text C

- Hi, Amy. Where were you in the morning?

- Look, Ben. I was late for the first class.

- What happened? I bet you didn't hear your alarm clock, did you?

- No, it was much more stupid. For some reason, I thought it was Friday today, not Thursday.

- Did you, really?

-  I went to the second class, according to Friday's timetable.

- Sounds unbelievable.

-  And it happens all the time. I mean, I'm always confusing and forgetting things. Last week I missed an appointment with my doctor because I completely forgot about it.

- Let's go to the classroom, otherwise you risk missing one more lesson.

Text D

- Are you joining us for the camping holiday, Lisa?

- No, unfortunately not. I'm taking part in the cycling ride. I can't let down the team.

- Of course you can't. I wish your cycling club success. By the way, don't you have a spare backpack? Mine's torn apart and I won't have any time to buy a new one till Saturday.

- Yes, you can take my rucksack. Do you remember my green one with lots of pockets? It's big enough and very strong. I can also give you a tent if you want.

- No, no, we've got enough tents. And I'm really grateful for the rucksack. It'll save me lots of time. Let me know if you need anything.

- Okay, I will.

Good afternoon. Today we have asked five people to give us a short interview and share their opinions about school uniforms. Now we would like to present their opinions to you.

Speaker A

In my country, most children wear uniforms at school. Uniforms are so common that students don't think much about them. You just wear it and that's it. An average uniform includes jackets, blouses and dresses, shirts and skirts, trousers and maybe shorts. There are also jumpers and polo shirts. The colors, patterns and logos on blazers and ties can be different, but most other things are pretty similar. I think we are all just used to wearing uniforms.

Speaker B

Wherever I go, I want to look nice and appropriate. Usually, it takes me a lot of time and effort to decide what to wear and to choose clothes that go with each other. Luckily, I don't have this problem every morning. My school has a uniform. And I don't waste time choosing what to put on. I know exactly what I'm wearing before I get out of the door. School is not a fashion show. We need to concentrate on learning, not on what we're wearing.

Speaker C

I know many people say uniforms make us all look alike, but I believe you can always find a way to express and show your individuality. My school has a uniform, but I can choose and mix uniform items every day, and every day I won't look the same. I can also wear my hair in different styles, or wear different glasses. Besides, I can express myself by other means, such as academic success, or being a good friend, or an interesting person to talk to.

Speaker D

Now, let me tell you that school uniforms can be ideal if they meet certain requirements. First, they shouldn't be expensive, but should be comfortable to wear. Besides, a school uniform should consist of a number of items so that you can mix and match them every day. Then, it should not be identified with any particular school. So if you change school, you don't have to buy a new wardrobe. And most importantly, it should be something that you can wear outside school.

Speaker E

At school, we have strict rules about the uniform. It means you can't change anything in it. We can only wear the uniform in the school colors and with the school logo. I can't even wear shoes of a different color. And we actually have a number of uniforms. I wear one every day. Then there's a special uniform for PE classes and another one for special occasions and events. That means lots of clothes and regulations to wear them, which is sometimes really difficult.

- Do you mind if I ask you a few questions? We're doing a survey.

- No, I don't mind. We do surveys at school too, in social studies and in other classes as well.

- And what's your favorite subject?

- Science. I like learning new things about the world around me.

- Science, right. If you like exploring the world, you probably like traveling, don't you?

- Oh yes, I do.

-Where would you like to go if you had a choice? What would be your dream destination?

- For holidays? And can I go wherever I want?

- Yes, anywhere. From Hanoi to Paris.

- Well, to Moscow. Neither me nor any one of my friends has ever been there. I'm curious about that city.

- Right, now a question from another area. What do you usually eat?

- I eat neither meat nor fish. I'm a vegetarian. That's why vegetables are my essential food. Fresh, fried, boiled. I like them cooked in different ways.

- I see. I tried to be a vegetarian a year ago, but it didn't last long.

- It may be difficult at the beginning, but then it feels okay. Our neighbor, who is a mountain biker, finds a vegetarian diet appropriate for himself.

- A mountain biker. Amazing. And do you play sports? You look very fit. What do you do to exercise?

- Nothing special. We play volleyball a lot. In the school ground, and in the yard, and on the beach. It's a great game.

- I agree. I like volleyball too. Would you like to be a coach or a PE teacher in the future? Do you think your career may be related to sports?

- I doubt it. I would like to be an artist. I like creating things, and I often design gifts for my friends. Mom says my pictures are good. She even helped me to make a webpage where my works are displayed.

- Do people get interested?

- Yes, I have 80 followers there. We've got a closed group where we can display our works, discuss painting techniques, and share opinions.

- It looks like a very professional approach. 80 followers is a good start.
